Slovenia-Japan Seminars

Slovenia-Japan Seminars have been initiated by Professor Marko Robnik, Director of CAMTP, University of Maribor, and Professor Yoji Aizawa, Director of the Research Institute of the Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in the year 2002. They are a continuation of a series of two seminars, that were embedded in the 4th (1999) and 5th (2002) international Summer School and Conference Let's Face Chaos through Nonlinear Dynamics, organized by Professor Marko Robnik at CAMTP in Maribor. These Seminars cover the nonlinear science and its applications in practically all branches of science, but the main emphasis is in physics. The topics cover nonlinear dynamics of classical and quantum systems, synergetics and physics of complex systems.

The first independent Slovenia-Japan Seminar was held in November 2002 at Waseda University in Tokyo (three working days), the main organizer was Professor Yoji Aizawa, and we had four participants from Slovenia and about 35 participants from Japan (from the Tokyo area, from the Kansai area - Kyoto and Osaka, and from other parts of Japan).

The second Seminar was taking place at CAMTP in Maribor in July 2003 (four working days) under the direction of Professor Marko Robnik. There were eight participants invited speakers from Japan and about 30 Slovenian senior and junior scientists and Phd students.

The third Seminar was held at Waseda University in Tokyo (two working days) and at University of Kyoto (two working days). The main organizers were Professors Yoji Aizawa of Waseda University and Hirokazu Fujisaka of Kyoto University. There were five Slovenian participants invited speakers and about 40 participants from Japan, from the Tokyo area, Kansai area and Kyushu area.

Usually a few selected guests from outside Japan and Slovenia are invited to attend, with invited lectures. For example, in July 2003, Professor Bruno Eckhardt of the University of Marburg, Germany, was one of the invited guest speakers.

The Slovenia-Japan Seminars are funded mainly by the Slovenia-Japan research collaboration project, which is supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia.

The 8th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place at CAMTP, University of Maribor, on 2 - 6 July 2007.

The 9th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place on 12-14 November 2007 at Osaka City University, Osaka, Japan, with the small satellite symposia at Nara Women's University (15 Nov), Osaka Prefecture University (15 Nov), Yukawa Institute, University of Kyoto (16 Nov), and at Waseda University, Tokyo (21 Nov).

The 12th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place at CAMTP, University of Maribor, on 7 - 9 October 2009.

The 13th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place at Nishiwaseda Campus, Waseda University, Tokyo, on 4 - 6 November 2010.

The 14th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place at the Waseda University, Tokyo, on 24 - 26 October 2014.

The 17th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science was taking place online, on 21 - 23 March 2022.
