Foreword

According to some counting, this is our 12th Japan-Slovenia Seminar on Nonlinear Science. The previous ones were as follows:

So far our meetings were very successful and contributed in a quite essential manner to the scientific exchange between Japan and Slovenia, especially as the nonlinear science is strongly interdisciplinary, and thus attracts the attention of scientists-researchers in all branches of science. Our motivation is to meet and present the most recent scientific contributions by the top-level researchers in both countries, to discuss the results, to initiate scientific cooperation resulting in joint projects and papers, and to spread the word of our so successful collaboration among the other European countries, especially in European Union.

This year we shall have 20 participants invited speakers from Japan, from the best of Japanese Universities, twenty two participants from Slovenia and five speakers (honorary guests) from Germany and Austria.

Specifically, we cover the following fields of research: physics, mathematics, astronomy and astrophysics (astrodynamics), biophysics, chemistry, physiology, engineering sciences and economy.

The main sponsor of our meeting is the Slovenian Research Agency and a number of Japanese institutions covering the expenses of our Japanese guests.

Finally, our activity certainly contributes in an essential way not only to the scientific exchange between the two countries, but also to the general cultural exchange and friendship between the Japanese and Slovenian people. On behalf of the organizers I wish you a very successful and pleasant stay in Maribor.
